USA Elections: Age matters?

I’m not an American but Dutch. To some people that may disqualify me from commenting on the US-elections. If only because of our very direct stake in the war in Afghanistan I beg to differ. There are several things though that strike me as odd regarding US-elections, to say the least. I’ll probably never fully comprehend the concept of voter-registration, let alone the apparent lack of an ID-check, nor the fact that union-bosses can use their position (and union’s treasuries) to sponsor a candidate of their chosing. A laudable concept is that there are apparently no electoral age-limits for public office: as long a constituents want to vote for you, you’re in. However, this very inclusive policy seems to be threatened by the very group that claims to be progressive and tolerant. The number of direct and indirect (constant use of ‘old fish’, ‘same old policies’ etc.) slurs regarding Sen. McCain’s age used this election are legion. Somehow so-called progressive Americans suddenly think McCain is too old to hold public office.

And that surprises me.

Like Lance Armstrong, McCain has fought cancer and won. Lance is lauded a hero for doing his thing again,  so to me McCain also proves his pluck (again). The best reason however is that there are many Senators who are much older than McCain. From Barack’s  teenage-paradise Hawaii come for example the  -Democratic – Daniels Inouye and Akaka, both 84 and counting. Most glaringly, the eldest, Senator Robert Byrd (D) from West Virginia, is old enough to be McCain’s father: 90 years and ticking. He’s even President ad tempore, meaning if Bush, Cheney and Pelosi would drop dead tomorrow (I know, it sounds like a bad joke), the Democrats basically feature the 90+-year old Robert Byrd as POTUS till the newly elected one is sworn in.

Not surprisingly,  the government-sponsored protests in Iran (like all dictatorships, in Iran protests only happen when approved by the state)  have now also included actions against The One True God of Current America, Barack Obama The Messiaha (akaHe Who Bought The Presidency, PEBO, Obambi and BoBo).

Another nutjob-edukator: exterminate whitey

By now (e.g. the Real Barack Obama blog has much more) everybody not living under Ayer’s rock knows Barack Obama, William Ayers and Rashid Khalidi were all part of the same cosy Chicago Hyde Park community of elitist lefties. It also turns  out that, besides hosting the launch of Obama’s Senate race, Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers held one of the two fundraising launch parties for the Democrats Online in 1996 (again, The Real Barack Obama has more details).  But we shouldn’t think only Ayers is a troublesome edukator. From national televison, and supposedly supported by Black Muslims (not to be confused with Muslims who happen to be black) I  bring back a former professor of African Studies & husband to Dr. Maniyah Kambon, Dr. Kamau Kambon:

Culture of bad behaviour?

In the Netherlands, it was not politically correct to complain about bad behaviour by ethnic minorities. Although these sentiments are still heard from time to time, we’ve gotten over it.  However, as the second video in my Barack’s Youth Brigade post showed, this nonsense is still rampant in the USA.  Indeed, Barack Obama’s campaign, with its continuing race-baiting has probably set things years back. Look at this video from 2006, the ‘it’s their culture’-crap didn’t fly THEN:

The lynching of the American Dream

One of the many characters of this campaign-season is a regular Joe, ‘Joe the Plumber’. He had the audacity to ask Barack Obama a straight question, when The One approached him in his quest for the White House. “Why do you want to punish people with higher taxes if they’ve worked hard to earn their own business?”, was basically the question.  The One did not blink: taxes are not punishment, babies are.  Taxes are ‘to spread the wealth around’, said Senator Government, as lowly voters can’t do that by themselves.

As this unrehearsed answer brought for all the world to see that, yes, wealth redistribution was Obama’s aim,  Joe was to be punished. How DARE he act like an unwilling Antonio Prohias (best known of Spy vs Spy) and reveal The One as a Marxist? Didn’t he know that The One may not be revealed, let alone by a lowly voter ?!?

Is Obama a war-monger?

Although I have been interested in politics ever since Glasnost, politics really started to pique my interest during the First Gulf War (as we cloggies call it). Especially the aftermath: the Kurds and other groups who had risen to the call of liberation, were brutally slaughtered by Saddam Hussein and his henchmen while the States decided it was time for a Change and the economy, stupid. In a  sense, peace caused more corpses than the First Gulf War itself. After that, the USA went to Somalia, but soon fled in humilation. When conflicts as recent as WWII came again to a boiling point in former Yugoslavia and Kosovo, I, like many Europeans at the time, were horrified by the images of slaughtered Bosniaks and Albanian-Kosovarians flung into our living rooms by means of the ever-present tv. When the USA intervened and ended their plight, we lauded them for doing what our own governments were either unwilling or unable to do. Later I was to learn that far from being the clear-cut victims the media and government presented to us, the Bosniaks and Albanian-Kosovarians were actually (supported by) Muslim-fanatics that commited antrocities not unlike those of the purported ‘black-hats’, the Serbs. Indeed,  Osama bin Laden himself was reported to help set-up training camps for Izetbegovicz and the Albanians in Europe, all with knowledge of the Clinton-administration.
